Canada beat Finland to send them to a game with Team USA

(WGR 550) - Team Canada had a meaningless game on Tuesday against Finland, but still won 5-2. With Finland losing, that means they’ll be Team USA’s opponent on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Ryan O’Reilly didn’t get any points, but he won two power play draws which led to two goals. He didn’t play much getting 12:36 of action with three shots on goal. O’Reilly is Canada’s second leading goal scorer with four.

Colton Parayko of St. Louis got one of the power play goals them giving him three in two games.

Mitch Marner of the Leafs had two goals and an assist. Colorado’s Matt Duchene got his first goal of the tournament, while Brayden Point of Tampa Bay got the other.

Calvin Pickard of the Avalanche made 18 saves. Pickard is 3-1 in the tourney with a 1.48 goals against and .932 save percentage. Former Sabre Chad Johnson of the Flames went 3-0 with a 1.33 goals against and .917 save percentage.

Nate MacKinnon of Colorado leads Canada in scoring with five goals and seven assists for 12 points in seven games. Marner has 10 points while Jeff Skinner from Carolina has eight

Canada will play Germany in the quarterfinals. The other matchups will be Russia against the Czech Republic and Sweden vs Switzerland.

Germany eliminated Latvia in a shootout. Zemgus Girgensons goes home with a goal and an assist in the tournament.
