The Buffalo Sabres did battle with the Philadelphia Flyers for the third time in this 2017-18 campaign. The two teams split the first two meetings right down the middle, and Buffalo was looking to emerge victorious in the season series with a win on Sunday.

Philadelphia rattled off four unanswered goals after Buffalo center Ryan O'Reilly broke the scoreless affair early in the second period. The Sabres end a lengthy road trip that beared little fruit with a 4-1 loss. The team will return home to KeyBank on Tuesday evening to host the Winnipeg Jets, whom they dropped a 4-3 decision to last Friday night.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Robin Lehner, Ryan O'Reilly and Phil Housley following the loss.

Robin Lehner:

On the team's strong first period, yet lacking second: "We kept getting pucks deep, we grinded away and we got opportunities. After we scored that goal it just seemed like everything changed. It sucks."

On finally returning home: "It would've been nice to end this trip with a win, but it's going to be nice to be back home and see family."

Ryan O'Reilly:

On not being able to expand on their lead: "I thought we had a pretty solid start to the game. That first period was solid. Obviously they came back with a heavy push and we got away from what we needed to do. It's about consistency again. We didn't have the full 60 [minutes]. It was tough to get momentum back after that."

On why Buffalo can't seem to gain traction after jumping out to leads: "Tough to say. Obviously it's an issue and we have to change that because we have to continue to follow up. You have to get back to out-working them, getting the puck in deep. Whether it's simplifying or finding a way to win the right battles, it's something we have to be better at."

Phil Housley:

On getting off to a stronger start: "We controlled the play. We get that big powerplay goal to get the first goal of the game [early in the second period] and then from that point, we just changed the way we were playing for some reason. Lots of east-west plays. Very uncharacteristic of what we were doing in the first period."

On the game of inches: "Specifically this year it's been tough to find goals but you have to continue to chase them. This is hard right now. Especially this, when we were in the game the whole time and couldn't find the way to get that next goal. You have to stay the course. We have to get dirty in front of their net and start pounding away."
