The Buffalo Sabres took to the home ice on Thursday to square off with the New York Islanders for the teams' third and final meeting of the 2017-18 season. In the previous two matchups, the Isles have prevailed by a combined score of 9-5, with the latter of the contests taking overtime to settle.

Despite blowing a 3-0 lead, Buffalo and Sam Reinhart responded to the adversity admirably. With just over four minutes left in regulation, Reinhart tipped in a loose puck past Islander goaltender Jaroslav Halak for the go-ahead, and eventual game-winning goal as the Sabres emerged victorious by the final score of 4-3.

The home victory was the team's first win overall since the All-Star break, and also the 1,000th victory on home ice in the history of the Buffalo Sabres franchise.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Sam Reinhart, Evan Rodrigues, and Phil Housley following the triumph.

Sam Reinhart:

On the night: "It;s a game like this you need to constantly win. We unfortunately sat back a little much in the third [period], and they came at us with speed."

Inspired play: "I think the goal in the Winter Classic is probably the spot where things turned around for me."

Sweater love: "Let's wear these jerseys more often."

Evan Rodrigues:

On playing with Jack and Sam: "It was nice playing with them again. We played together for a couple of games in development camp. They're easy to play with, and I thought we had a pretty good game."

Game came easy tonight: "It was easy to make reads off each other. We were supporting each other all over the ice; supporting whoever had the puck by getting to the net. Both the even-strength goals were right there in front of the net. We did a good job of burying our chances."

Phil Housley:

Relieved, but still have to be a coach: "I'm not saying I'm not happy that the guys pulled it out even after giving up a two-goal lead and netting a go-ahead goal. Overall, though, if you play like that you're just asking for trouble. Especially going into Boston [this weekend]. That's a good hockey team."

On Sam's game of late: "He's got a little bit more confidence. He got some on that roadtrip. He's getting some production offensively, which always helps mentally. Plus, he's making some really strong plays down low. He's been really heavy in the battle down there; been slippery along the wall. When you do that out of your own zone and pay attention to defense, you get to spend more time in the offensive zone. He's also done a terrific job on our powerplay."

"Efficient" shot selection in the first period: "That's a good start, right? Get two goals right off the bat on two shots? I'm really happy for Evan [Rodrigues] finally getting a goal. Hopefully that'll boost his confidence. That line really mixed well tonight."
