The Radio Press Box promises Rochester sports fans real sports insight, real sports conversation and real sports talk with two of Rochester’s most well-known sports experts. In addition to the FM station, The Radio Press Box with Pitoniak and Borrello will broadcast across multiple channels, including 92.5 HD2 channel, 24/7 streaming online, on the AM dial at 950 AM and through the TuneIn Radio app.
A native of Rome, N.Y. and Syracuse University graduate, Scott Pitoniak has been telling stories about people and the games they play for decades. He has spent 42 years in the newspaper business, including 25 as a reporter, feature writer and sports columnist for the Democrat and Chronicle, and has written 17 books and hundreds of magazine articles. Along the way, he has covered Olympics, Super Bowls, World Series, NCAA basketball tournaments, Stanley Cup playoffs and major golf tournaments. The most decorated sportswriter in Rochester newspaper history, Pitoniak has received more than 100 national and regional journalism honors. He has also published nine books in the past four years – including Buffalo Bills Football Vault: The First 50 Seasons; Color Him Orange: The Jim Boeheim Story; Johnny Antonelli: A Baseball Memoir; and The Hall: A Celebration of Baseball’s Greats.
Born and raised in Silver Creek, N.Y., Dan Borrello was bitten by the sports bug at an early age. A graduate of St. John Fisher College, Borrello has spent the last dozen years covering sports and writing columns for several Western New York radio stations and newspapers, while serving as the sports director and producer of The Break Room morning show on 96.5 WCMF and anchoring local morning sports updates on ESPN Rochester for six of those years. Borrello is also an avid fan of the Bills and the New York Yankees and is a play-by-play voice for both Fisher football and basketball.
